About Us

We have been married for 18 years and between us we have 4 wonderful grown kids. We have 8 terrific grandchildren. The entire family has had some fabulous vacations on the Dragonfly with us and we're looking forward to more..

Al has been retired for 14 years, most of which he has spent on Dragonfly sailing and chartering in Florida and Keys, Bahamas and Caribbean. We've been to Cuba and completed the Great Circle (Tampa, Key West, NY City, Hudson River, Erie Canal, Lake Erie, Huron, and Michigan, Chicago, Illinois, Mississippi, and Ohio Rivers, Tenn-Tombigby waterway to the Gulf of Mexico then back to Tampa). Most of our chartering has been in the eastern Caribbean specifically the Virgin Islands. However, we spent a lot of time in the Bahamas and have sailed through the Leeward and Windward islands to Venezuela. We returned to St. Thomas on an exhilarating 450 mile run in 60 hours for another terrific season in the Virgin Islandss. At the end of that year we sailed the back to Florida via Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica and Isla Mujeres. We then decided to explore the Western Caribbean and charter in Belize. We fell in love with this part of the Caribbean and it's people, serenity and beauty. After spending 3 seasons in Belize and the Bay Islands of Honduras, we decided to return to the Bahamas, where we spent one year in the Exumas, Jumentos and Crooked Islands. We thoroughly enjoyed the pristine waters and abundance of fish. Al was able to bring home multiple meals of fish from each spearfishing trip.

Now were back in the Virgin Islands, the charter capital of the world. The close proximity of the islands, the pristine beaches, terrific snorkelling, numerous anchorages, moderate climate with consistent sailing breezes, a variety of options for night life or hiking, makes it a terrific place to entertain our guests.

Al has over 70,000 miles of sailing experience and has his 100 ton Captains license. Dragonfly has been set up to sail single handed, which Al has done several times. But he prefers having others on board to share stories and the fun with. Prior to this Al was in the computer/online industry.

Initially, while Al was sailing, I was a computer consultant and coordinating charters. I joined Al full time starting in December 2001 to let someone else do the office work. We are enjoying being together and making new friends. I hope that you'll be one of them:-)

Cheers, Jill
